Martyna Smolarek

Portfolio of the day

September 02, 2016

Who are you?

My name is Martyna. I've just finished my Bachelor Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning. Most of the projects on my webpage are made during my university course, but some of them are prepared specially for contests and private clients.

What are you inspired by?

What really inspires me is nature. People are usually looking for solutions in technology, forgetting that some of the data they need already exists somewhere in the world around them.

What was the last movie you watched and the last book you read?

Right now, apart from my projects, I'm also intensively learning Spanish. I don't actually remember the last movie I watched, but the last book was a very popular one recently, Me before you, but in Spanish language.

Do you have any role model?

I don't really have a role model. What is important is trying to be a better person oneself.

What is your next creative project?

Right now I'm working with a group of friends over a project for a contest. Can't really tell our idea, as it's a contest, but be sure it will be uploaded on my site!

What do you like about Portfoliobox?

What I like about Portfoliobox? Well, mostly everything - that the interface is very clear and it's easy for a person like me to navigate, the pictures have good quality and I can basically arrange everything the way I want.

Silvija Prokopaite

Portfolio of the day

August 31, 2016

Who are you?

My name is Silvija Prokopaite and I am just about to start my third year in photography at the University of Roehampton in London. Most of my photographs are documentary projects that focus on observing people and the relationship they have with their surroundings.

What are you inspired by?

I am most inspired when observing people in their routine. My eye is also drawn by simplicity in architecture and mundane scenarios of everyday life.

What was the last movie you watched?

The last movie I watched was The Usual Suspects by Bryan Singer.

What was the last book you read?

The last book I read was Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, by Robert B. Cialdini.

Do you have any role model?

I don’t have one person in mind as my role model. I am inspired by people who don’t necessarily follow someone else’s path, who are visionaries, who achieve their goals in their own way and are not afraid to take risks.

What is your next creative project?

My next creative project will be my graduation project in which I will focus on erasing the line between fantasy and mundane life, with hopes of creating a new kind of reality. While doing that I will also continue with my street photography and hopefully keep updating my portfolio.

What do you like about Portfoliobox?

Portfoliobox is extremely easy to use and is very convenient for beginner photographers who want to create a professional looking webpage without too much difficulty.

Rameses Abdallah

Portfolio of the day

August 26, 2016

Who are you?

My name is Rameses Abdallah. I recently left the corporate world after 15 years to chase my passion. I love movies, music and photography. I just like creativity. I am pretty reserved and somewhat of an introvert but trying to put myself out there more to get my name out there. I consider myself a perpetual student, an information junkie and a constant work in progress. I love editorial work the most even though it doesn’t make much money. It gives me the opportunity to draw on my cinematic inspirations and tell stories I vision. This has a lot of influence on how I compose and structure my shoots.

What are you inspired by?

I am inspired by art and movies. Particularly the great story tellers. I like great epics that inspires my vision for photography. Giving the viewer that cinematic perspective I believe allows the viewer to experience my photography through the cinematic eye that is both familiar and comfortable. I am also inspired by the great photographers of today that take so many chances and are committed to their visions and style.

What was the last movie you watched?

The last movie I watched was Jason Bourne. Huge fan of that series. I like fast paced action movies where the cinematography seems to pull the viewer into the action.

What was the last book you read?

The last book I read was Flash Boys by Michael Lewis. It's about high frequency stock trading and you won’t believe how much money people make in literally a fraction of a second. It's a huge competitive advantage and these people went really far to get it. Great insight into how Wall Street is rigged even against themselves.

Do you have any role model?

In terms of role models I think it's more of admiration for people that prove time and time again that hard work out performs talent when talent doesn’t work hard (Joel Grimes). I am a huge fan of success against the odds and people that know the difference between staying true to your style and knowing when to change.

What is your next creative project?

My next creative project is a big beauty shoot. Excited to share soon.

What do you like about Portfoliobox?

What I love about Portfoliobox is the ease of use. There are so many templates to pick from that keep up with trends and layouts. You can change your website anytime to give it a fresh look. The support is quick and awesome and they keep things really simple so you can focus on creating.
