Portfolio of the day
Who are you?
I am a 20-year-old, currently studying for a degree in Neuroscience, and constantly trying to find time to do art on the sidelines. I've always had the creative impulse and have come to accept it as part of my character; and actually art, now, in general, is something I value hugely both for myself and society. My approach is haphazard and unplanned - I simply let whatever inspiration wants to walk my way, walks my way.
Often it's the environment I'm living in, or current and historical artists I discover in books or on the internet. So far I've been focussing on depicting single individuals and affairs, but I can kind of forsee that in the future I'll engage myself more with large-scale geopolitical events and humanitarian issues as a whole - since, if anything, your scope as an artist tends to grow larger and broader before diminishing again into something particular (the thing you become known for).
What is your next creative project?
Right now I'm simply trying to improve my skill in every area - wet media, dry media, photography etc. - and so haphazardly experimenting in every direction, being prepared to fail over and over again, and not worrying that things don't always work out. At some point I hope to narrow down this broad media usage into just the one or two I feel most comfortable in, allow a distinctive "style" to develop, and ideally gain in recognition and forge my way forward in the art world.
Obviously, it is every artists dream to go where none have gone before and really leave an impact and a legacy on the human race... so if I'm doing anything purposeful right now, it is naturally in pursuit of that dream.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
I found it incredibly satisfying and easy to use Portfoliobox - something I was very grateful for, as I'd tried out a fair few website builders before that which didn't work out. I was thankful for the range of styles on offer and the large number of opportunities for customisation. It's so important, I think, to allow people to develop a site accurate and faithful to that vivid fantasy they most probably had floating around in their head. I certainly feel I was able to create roughly the site I "wanted", and wasn't overly-limited by the developers' decisions. However, I would have appreciated a larger degree of flexibility on the design of the mobile format.Visit site
