Portfolio of the day
Who are you?
My name is Maryia. I am an illustrator, graphic and font designer. I live and work in Vilnius, Lithuania. The main of my activities are design and illustration of books, creating fonts and photography projects. I create them for my own projects and for clients. For job, I use several professional software such as: Adobe Illustrator CC, Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe InDesign CC, Flash Professional CS5.5, FontLab Studio 5.2. They accelerate the work process, but I also work with hand-made stuff to create inimitable in its beauty material.
What is your next creative project?
Recently I have been very interested in the theme of gentrification, creative spaces and aspects of their development in the post-soviet realities. My first project in this field was "Vilnius Creative Space". This project covers the topic of creative spaces of Vilnius. The main audience of the project is students. Usually, students believe that the choice of places where they could present their works is rather narrow and limited to the university and special places for it. This project reports about places that encourage creative community to express themselves in some way. Selected spaces are divided into two categories: paid and free. Places that one has to pay for are hubs, institutions and places which are taxed in some ways. Free creative spaces do not charge any fees for activities and creative work based on their space.
This project was not the only one on this topic. I currently participate in two big projects, relating to creative industries. This is team work with Ihar Yuknevich on the conference "Create IT!" in Minsk, Belarus. It is a meeting place for new technologies, culture and creative industries, a practice-oriented event with parallel hands-on workshops. Also, I am the designer of the first creative space "Kovcheg" in Homel, Belarus.
