Who are you?

My name is Laurence Servaes. I am a freelance classical singer. I performe in opera’s, music theater and concerts all around the world. I studied at the Royal College London under Russell Smythe and graduated in 2013 from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where I studied with Dina Grossberger. I have also appeared in masterclasses with Udo Reinemann, Peter Schreier, Malcolm Martineau, and Sir Thomas Allen.

Following my studies, I joined the Belgian International Opera Academy, where I sang Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Aréthuse in Charpentier’s Actéon, Damigella in L’incoronazione di Poppea, and Romy Schneider in the contemporary opera Elle est moi und töte mich by Joris Blanckaert. I made my debut at the Festival of Flanders as Bastienne in Bastien und Bastienne and premiered the role of Juliette in the new opera Paternel by Frank Nuyts.

I have been the soprano soloist in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and Telemann’s St. Luke’s Passion with Michael Scheck, Mozart’s Davide Penitente with Sigiswald Kuiken, as well as several of Bach’s works with Paul Agnew. Future engagements include returning to the role of Juliette in Paternel at the Muziekcentrum De Bijloke, my debut as Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with the period ensemble La Petite Bande, conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken and the soprano solo in C.P.E Bach's Magnificat, conducted by Hartmut Rohde at the Philharmonie Berlin.

What is your next creative project?

Performing in La Figure Humaine in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg in a production of Sasha Waltz.
