What are you inspired by?
I'm inspired by the fact of bringing humor and comic relief into all things that are harshly real.
What was the last movie you watched?
“Comme des lions", a documentary by Françoise Davisse.
What was the last book you read?
“La machine est ton seigneur et ton maître” by Yang, Jenny Chan, Xu Lizhi.
Do you have any role model?
Otto Dix and Hara Kiri magazine (1970's satirical French magazine).
What is your next creative project?
Currently I’m working on a series called « Guide for a better life » which was inspired after stumbling upon a discarded suitcase (in the street), amongst other personnel belongings, to a certain someone, who had obviously just died.
Looking inside it, I discovered that it had belonged to a man called Jean Jacques. I also found (in-between various administrative papers), fetish magazines from the 90's called « secret fessées » (secret spankings), correspondence letters with a famous French fortune teller/advise giver (Madame S.) and several other letters from a female dominatrix, offering her services to "strictly discipline" Jean Jacques.
After witnessing such strange and intimate pieces of this person's secret life, I've created a series of drawings, inspired by the images in the magazines and the advises of Madame S. The direct quotes are used, as if she were speaking, not only to the late Jean-Louis, but to us, the viewer, to guide us to a better life!
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
Even with a very tired computer, that lacks the letter "s" on the keyboard, and a dyslexic brain that was not made for high-tech, I was still able to (almost) master this site (almost) autonomously. After a little boost of confidence I am now the master of my universe!
