Portfolio of the day
Who are you?
I am a Dutch illustrator, graphic designer and collage artist, living in San Carlos, California. Growing up in The Netherlands, I have been creative in one way or another most of my life. In college I dedicated myself to art theory and film history, education and preservation. Currently I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, which proves to be an inspiring environment for my creative work.
My mixed media collages are all original, analog works that consist of found paper, photographs and embroidery thread, which I use to weave together new narratives on paper. My illustrations are personal snapshots of things I’ve seen.
I love to experiment with different materials and re-use old images and paper. In doing so, it is my hope to bring new life to these materials, so they can be enjoyed and appreciated once again. For my artworks, I draw inspiration from my dreams, nature, arts, literature and my travels.
What is your next creative project?
I am currently working on a new series of collages called Memory Lane, for which I made backgrounds of layered paper and acrylics, onto which I stitched houses using embroidery thread. The paper scraps, such as maps, sewing patterns and grocery lists stand for the memories created in these fictional homes. These new works are currently on view in the art show Nest at The Main Gallery in Redwood City, CA, opening this week.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
What I love about Portfoliobox is how user-friendly it is and how beautiful the templates are. I appreciate the ability to change templates per page, so you are not limited in any way. I enjoy seeing my artworks on my website and I feel it's a great way to showcase my portfolio and sell my art. The price tag is also very reasonable.Visit site
