Portfolio of the day
Who are you?
Linea Matei, the Swedish, Stockholm-based, artist and designer behind Schyssta Killar (Nice Guys). With a background in fashion I create art using her design skills often investigating social structures and cultural norms. I have a bachelor in Textile art and design at Konstfack University of Art, Craft and Design.
Could you tell us more about Schyssta Killar?
Schyssta Killar is a three meters high sculpture visualizing a white guy texting a friend. His clothes are filled with illustrated characters mixed with crime statistics, studies focusing on gender and males answers of the question "what do you loose by being a man / being brought up as a man?" Schyssta Killar investigates gender equality focusing on the role of men, and problematizes that so many men are passive in working for equality.
The sculpture’s skeleton is made of metal and his body is textile and wadding. The clothes are silkscreen printed by hand and tailor-made.
What is your next creative project?
I am working on two projects. One is a reflection of how comfortable one can become with friends, partners, family or others. Which will be illustrated through textile sculptures creating a scene.
The other project is an investigation of my own background and heritage from my mother from the north of Sweden and my Swedish Romanian father.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
Portfoliobox has made it easier for me to create a webpage in the way I want. My computer and technology skills are not that high, therefore I am happy that Portfoliobox has a clear visual explanation on how to choose layouts and styles for pictures, galleries, blog, text, Instagram and so on. Portfoliobox team is also very engaged in how their users experience Portfoliobox which makes them continuing developing.
