Domain name issues

When you connect your own domain to your Portfoliobox website, you might run into the issues listed below:

The domain redirects to a 404 Portfoliobox page

When this happens, the domain itself is configured properly but not connected to your Portfoliobox account. Contact our support team if you encounter such an issue.

Your domain generates a loop of www

When a domain generates a loop of www.www.www, you configured two A-records: one for the root domain, i.e. domain.com, and one for the sub-domain "www". Delete the A-record created for the sub-domain "www".

Instead, you must create a CNAME record for www, as explained in this guide. If the issue isn't fixed after doing so, please contact our support team so they can investigate your case.

A blank page displays

A blank page is usually displayed when you try creating a masked redirection from your domain to your account URL. Portfoliobox blocks masked redirection, so you must configure your domain correctly by following this guide.

If your domain still does not work after checking this guide, let us know, and we'll be happy to look at your DNS settings.

"The website was not found. Create your own online portfolio website."

If the message "The website was not found. Create your own online portfolio website." displays, you need to confirm the configuration of your domain name in the admin panel.

  1. In your Portfoliobox admin panel, click on See Live.
  2. Confirm the configuration.

Congratulations, your site is now published! If your site still isn't online, please contact our support team.
