Portfolio of the week
Who are you?
I'm Luka and I'm a photographer. I come from Slovenia and currently live in Vienna, Austria. I've moved to Vienna in the end of 2011, where I started studying architecture. But the main reason for my move to Vienna was BMX and with it related photography. I wanted to move to some place where the BMX scene is bigger than in Slovenia, so I have more possibilities to photograph and more riders to work with. Vienna showed as a good choice, since I quickly improved my work and got an offer from German BMX Rider magazine, to work with them.
What is your next creative project?
My next bigger project will be creating of 2nd issue of Hinterland zine. Hinterland is a zine about BMX, skateboarding and art. I'm running this zine together with two friends of mine.
How would you describe your work?
I most of the time shoot BMX in the streets of Vienna. As an architecture student, I try to enrich all those action shots with monumental touch of architecture and somehow connect those two different fields. I'm also a big enthusiast of mountains and landscape photography.
Who are your biggest influences in the industry?
My biggest idol is definitely the legendary BMX photographer Jeff Zielinski, but I'm also really inspired by French photographer Fred Mortagne. I like how he connects skateboarding with architecture and his play with light and shadows.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
I really like the flexibility of Portfoliobox. I like how you can create almost any design you want and you aren't limited to one particular template. I also like how fast you can make changes on your website and that the page for mobile devices is created automatically. That saves quite a lot of time.
