Who are you?

I am a Japanese graphic designer who used to be based in Tokyo and currently based in Berlin, Germany.

I mainly design books, besides magazines, identities, advertisement, and more.

What is your next creative project?

I am working on some Japanese books projects and some brochures for concerts now. And planning for a self-initiated project inspired by life in Berlin and Latin typesetting.

How would you describe your work?

I design thinking deeply about each text content, then progressing with the design by interpreting it sensuously or philosophically.

I like to explore and experiment with typesetting to create beautiful, playful, and new designs.

Who are your biggest influences in the industry?

I worked for Tobufune, Japanese book design agency until last June, so my previous boss Shohei Oguchi influenced me most directly. Also, I am always inspired by many great graphic designers…like Bunpei Yorifuji, Masayoshi Nakajo, Dick Bruna, Alexander Rodchenko...in both aesthetic and philosophical way.

What do you want your viewers to take away from your work?

I am glad to be taken anything away. I think it might be interesting that Japanese typesetting mixed with Latin typesetting or using way of illustrations. Personally, my wedding project succeed to make our guests enjoy, and it was amusing, so I am delighted if someone gets inspired by it.

What do you like about Portfoliobox?

I love it because I could make my website neat and beautiful without difficulty. You can handle it sensuously even if you don’t know about coding or programming very well. I was a little bit in a hurry to make my site, and I tried other several website making services, but I always hit the wall at some points. On the other hand, Portfoliobox led me to a goal very smoothly. It knows users insight very well.

Who are you?

I'm Luka and I'm a photographer. I come from Slovenia and currently live in Vienna, Austria. I've moved to Vienna in the end of 2011, where I started studying architecture. But the main reason for my move to Vienna was BMX and with it related photography. I wanted to move to some place where the BMX scene is bigger than in Slovenia, so I have more possibilities to photograph and more riders to work with. Vienna showed as a good choice, since I quickly improved my work and got an offer from German BMX Rider magazine, to work with them.

What is your next creative project?

My next bigger project will be creating of 2nd issue of Hinterland zine. Hinterland is a zine about BMX, skateboarding and art. I'm running this zine together with two friends of mine.

How would you describe your work?

I most of the time shoot BMX in the streets of Vienna. As an architecture student, I try to enrich all those action shots with monumental touch of architecture and somehow connect those two different fields. I'm also a big enthusiast of mountains and landscape photography.

Who are your biggest influences in the industry?

My biggest idol is definitely the legendary BMX photographer Jeff Zielinski, but I'm also really inspired by French photographer Fred Mortagne. I like how he connects skateboarding with architecture and his play with light and shadows.

What do you like about Portfoliobox?

I really like the flexibility of Portfoliobox. I like how you can create almost any design you want and you aren't limited to one particular template. I also like how fast you can make changes on your website and that the page for mobile devices is created automatically. That saves quite a lot of time.

Who are you?

My background is fashion design, having studied a masters in fine art (fashion) in Poland, since moving to Australia and continuing my profession in the land down under. I have worked with some of Europe's largest brands and was on the team who designed Poland's Olympic team uniforms while specialising in activewear and womenswear. My passion is commercial fashion which enables me to deliver great designs to everyone, not just a select few. My love for activewear originated from the ability to bring new technologies into the fashion industry while allowing us designers to be super creative.

What is your next creative project?

To master fashion photography.

How would you describe your work?

Who are your biggest influences in the industry?

In activewear has always been Lacoste runway shows.

For womenswear and accessories, it's hard to point to one influencer but Sonia Rykiel has always been an important influencer for me,

What do you want your viewers to take away from your work?

How activewear due to its intricate design and advanced technology has influenced the entire industry and streetwear. That this type of design takes incredible discipline and has far-reaching implications.

Who are you?

I'm a freelance photographer based in Tokyo. At the age of 30, I quit my job in the construction industry, and devoted myself to photography full-time.

I mainly take pictures of urban landscapes and architecture. At the age of six, I was captivated by “the chaos of Gotham City” depicted by producer Tim Burton in “Batman”, the first movie I ever saw. Sometime later, I became interested in the cityscape of New York, and now I travel there once a year to take aerial photographs.

Most of the pictures of night views that I take were inspired by illustrations from Gotham city.

As I am still a fledgling photographer, most of the pictures that I provide are sold via the Getty Images. The pictures that are taken of Tokyo and New York have been published in a wide variety of advertisements and media.

What is your next creative project?

This year, I will take aerial night views of my beloved Tokyo.

Tokyo is the greatest metropolitan district in the world, as recognized by the United Nations. I would like to communicate its beauty to many people.

How would you describe your work?

When I take photographs, in addition to being constantly aware of the need to produce high quality and what the market is looking for, I focus on views of the world and depictions unique to me. As we are now in an age in which job requests come via SNS, uploading pictures to SNS is a daily task.

Actually, it is due to SNS that I have received a photography project covering the athletes’ village in the Tokyo Olympics to be held in 2020.

Moving forward, in addition to just providing photographs, I am studying a number of fields with the goal that my photography will be able ot draw out the attractive qualities of a number of things, such as people and regions, and architecture.

Who are your biggest influences in the industry?

That would have to be another Japanese photographer Takashi Yasui. He was the second Japanese photographer to have his photographs used for the Apple product wallpaper and he is photographer who has worked on a wide range of projects, both domestically and overseas.

What do you want your viewers to take away from your work?

I have been taking pictures in Tokyo and New York based on the theme “breath of the city”. Although the city has an inorganic appearance, it is alive, absorbing sunlight and breathing. I want the people looking at these various landscapes, introducing you to the charms of the city, to be filled with a sense of longing and enchantment.

What do you like about Portfoliobox?

More than anything, I feel it has a strong sense of design. It is as if it was a tool made for the creator. I also like the fact that this is very easy to do editing. As I only have a very basic knowledge of programming this is very helpful.

Who are you?

My name is Hendrik and I am 34 years old. About 6 years ago I started photographing during a vacation. When I returned to the Netherlands, I received compliments from many people, which prompted me to spend more time on photography. In recent years I have traveled a lot and my photography has improved more and more. For example, in North Korea I was able to capture street life and in Vanuatu I cloud capture fire-breathing volcanoes. After a world trip of 12 months we arrived back in the Netherlands and moved to a city with different cultures. It therefore seems to me a nice project to be able to capture this.

How would you describe your work?

I find it difficult to describe my work. This is also mainly because I am still discovering which style of photography I like. What I find very cool is to use a lot of color in my photos. Think for example of sunrise or sunset.

Who are your biggest influences in the industry?

Personally, I think Anton Corbijn is a fantastic photographer. This man has been able to capture so many fantastic portraits.

What do you want your viewers to take away from your work?

I hope that people get excited about my photos and that I can convey to my viewers what I have experienced during my travels.
