Who are you?
I'm Richard Griletz, an Austrian based Photographer. I studied Sociology, which definitely has influenced my photography. Most of my topics revolve around social circumstances. Photography for me is a means to communicate what I see. Most of the time it's impossible for me to put it into words.
What are you inspired by?
I get inspired by traveling, by art, by interesting encounters and most of all by new and different experiences. I'm sure my creativity would die if I get stuck in routine and don't leave my comfort zone every now and then.
What was the last movie you watched?
The last movie I watched was Vor der Morgenröte, an Austrian production. It is about the Author Stefan Zweig's last years in exile. It was remarkable how the story was told. Sober but with a strong impact. Told more in pictures than explained in speech. That's what I like as a photographer.
What was the last book you read?
Currently I'm reading Castaneda's The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge. In this book the anthropologist describes his experiences as an apprentice of an indigenous shaman. The totally different understanding of reality is fascinating for me.
Do you have any role model?
I think I never really had a concrete role model, but in every interesting person I meet, I may find some adorable traits. So my role model is maybe a mix of all my inspiring encounters.
What is your next creative project?
Who can tell? I have some things in mind but not concrete enough.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
About portfoliobox I like the fast, easy to learn and intuitive surface. I hardly needed any tutorials. And I think it didn't take me much time to finish the website.
