Who are you?
My name is Kate Young, I’m 19 and will be a freshman at Ball State University this fall. I was given my first camera when I was seven; it was small and lime green and had one button. From the first click I was hooked — my hobby quickly turned into an addiction and there was no going back. Occasionally, I get frustrated while I photograph because I can never seem to fully capture the feeling of the place I’m in. Despite that, with every photo I aspire to give others a taste of a moment, the hint of a story, the feel of adventure. If I can make someone feel something with my photography, even for just a second, then I have succeeded.
What is your next creative project?
My next project is a little different than others I’ve done. I’m in the process of photographically recreating a painting called “The Singing Butler”. It has always been a favorite painting of mine, full of emotion and life. I want to transfer the same feelings to the photograph — with a slight spin.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
Portfoliobox gives a spotlight to each of my photos without effort. As a young photographer, I needed a site to display my photography in a clean, professional, and appealing way – Portfoliobox does this and more. My photography is many things, but most of all, it is the story of me and the world as I experience it. As I have evolved, it has transformed with me.
