Who are you?
I’m AJ, a 21 years old photographer, musician and marketer from Montréal, Canada. I’ve been taking pictures more seriously for about a year now.
What are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by the music I listen to and the books I read. I also spend a lot of time studying other photographers’ work. I can’t go a day without creating… Art has always been at the center of my life, thanks to my parents and friends.
What was the last movie you watched?
A friend I just met here in Vienna suggested I watch Carol, with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, and I thought it was great.
What was the last book you read?
I’ve been reading all the Haruki Murakami books I could find. I just started 1Q84. But my favorite has been South of the Border, West of the Sun so far.
Do you have any role model?
My older sister Kim.
What is your next creative project?
I want to document my travel experience here in Europe using my film camera. I have 20 rolls of film with me right now but I know I’ll need some more… I also write songs, so when I come back to Montréal in August I’ll get to back to recording my first album.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
The platform is functional while being easy to use. It took me a few hours to get used to the interface and from there I spent weeks tweaking and perfecting my gallery up to a point that I never really thought possible. Customer support was also there when I needed it.
