Who are you?

I'm Visarut Sankham, I would call myself a storyteller focusing on social injustice and culture.

What are you inspired by?

I'm interested in documentary photography for the beauty of it. There is beauty coming from most people who are struggling (not in a bad way). I mean that it's when people try to live their life that the beauty arises, whether about their story or their way of living. Then, I am just addicted to see and be with people.

What was the last movie you watched?

I've just watched a movie by Gavin Hood called Eye in the Sky.

What was the last book you read?

I've just read a book about ethnic theory as I now study Ethnic study and Development at Thailand's Chiangmai University.

Do you have any role model?

I have hundred of photographers guiding my thought on photography such as Damir Sagoji, Jame Netchway, Robert Capa, Sebastião Salgado and many others. While, my thought based on many legend in sociology like Marx, Webb, Durkheim.

What is your next creative project?

As I am a student focusing on ethnic group, I've found out that there were many conflict in Thailand caused by misunderstanding on the way ethnic groups live. Therefore, my point now is to promote the beauty of ethnic group and make sure the majority learn more about them. Finally, I believe when we do understand each other, there is no point to kill each other.
