Portfolio of the week
Who are you?
I'm Gennifer Wagayen, a Filipino illustrator raised in England. My work would be described as very detailed and colourfully whimsical, which is mainly inspired from my fascination with mythologies and the magic in nature!
What are you working on at the moment?
I'm working on several projects, including book cover designs, though my main focus at the moment is a children's graphic novel that I'm excited to eventually share with everyone! It is still in its early stages, but I will be posting some concept art soon.
Who are your biggest influences in the industry?
I absolutely love the works of Alphonse Mucha and Victo Ngai! Both their illustrations are akin to something out of a classical fairytale book, yet so contemporary. There's always something that will inspire me from them.
What was the last thing that inspired you?
The other day, I visited the local bookstore with a friend. The store was displaying their Hokusai art book collections - just from the book cover I was really inspired to just draw something right that moment! I also bought the book in the end.
What do you like about Portfoliobox?
I've always had a great experience with Portfoliobox and I think what makes them a great platform is their customer service. The staff are friendly and are always happy to help out - paired that with the lovely themes they have to provide you a way to display your portfolio efficiently, it's the perfect place for both experienced and new creatives to establish their website!Visit site
